Janelle Cowley

Biography

"Janelle grew up in the small town of Kincardine, Ontario. She moved to Ottawa for an undergraduate degree at Carleton University, in Public Affairs and Policy Management. While at university, the Carleton Navigators campus ministry was significant for deepening and solidifying the roots of her faith, and modelling the power of spiritual mentorship. After graduating, she joined the Hamilton Navigators team for an internship in 2017. Today, she continues to invest in young adults in Hamilton and the broader Southwestern Ontario region, meeting one-to-one with individuals and seeking to support them in their journey with Jesus. She especially longs to help the young people she meets with to see themselves as “alongsiders,” and feel empowered to intentionally invest in others and offer the “space beside them” as they walk with Jesus. She also enjoys leading small groups, workshops and retreat events. In particular, Janelle loves to discuss and teach about: spiritual practices and hearing God’s voice; skill-building for listening, asking good questions and walking with people; Sabbath rest and holistic health (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual); and building biblical literacy and a positive relationship with scripture. In her free time, she loves to read, bake, enjoy the outdoors (especially the beach!), and play board games with her husband and friends. Camp ministry with youth is also a cherished part of her life."
