Ministry Information
In 1964, we joined Don and Shirley Lawrie in starting the Navigator ministry at the University of British Columbia. Don and Shirley left two years after, to plant a new Nav work at the U. of Alberta in Edmonton. The Lord brought Don Matsune and Jean Marc Gretillat, who teamed with us, in their student days at UBC.
Mirian and I led the disciplemaking ministry on the UBC campus, and after four years, with the promises of God for Taiwan (i.e. Gen. 12:1-3), we left Vancouver in February 1970, with our three daughters, Debbie 5, Stephanie 3, and Linda 1. We joined the China Task Force, a team of international coworkers who had a heart to serve in Mainland China. The mission was to develop disciplemakers to one day minister in China.
While in Taiwan, the Lord blessed us with a little boy, Peter, in 1971. In September 1982, we suffered a deeply painful loss, when our daughter Stephanie, age 16, went into His loving Presence, in Taiwan. God is faithful to His Promise that, in His Time, He makes all things beautiful. In 2005, He gave us another beautiful, bright child, also named Stephanie Lee, Peter and Pollie's first baby.
We returned to Vancouver after twenty years in Taiwan in 1990, to care for aging parents. During this period in Vancouver, we continued to take bi-annual ministry trips to Taiwan for another twenty years, to support the Nav alumni in their personal lives and ministries. Praise God, our alumni are now serving in China, as well as developing disciplemaking ministries in Taiwan.
In Vancouver, our task is multifaceted - continuing with BC Navs; development and support of a church plant, relating with our children, our senior siblings, developing a Canadian-born Chinese ministry in the secular community.
Praise the Lord for His Grace - Debra, Linda, Peter all graduated from our alma mater, Univ. of Washington. They are married to Jon, Cliff, and Pollie, and all serve God in various capacities in their church and community. God continues to bring His joy and surprises, in gifting us with 14 lovely grandchildren.
