Sanmi Sakamoto

Biography

Sanmi is currently completing her degree in Psychology and Spanish with a love for languages and linguistical differences, exploring cuisines, and seeing how the cultures we grow up in shape our lives and ways of living by befriending and living with people from various continents. She has a heart to see individuals who grew up in broken and difficult situations during childhood shine bright and thrive as they learn to trust and receive the Father's love for them, grow in the God-given identity they have in Christ, and believe that He has great plans for them all through the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. While she doesn't get much of a chance to, you will find Sanmi climbing trees and rocks at every opportunity she can get and resting in nature in silence.

Ministry Information

Sanmi got involved with the Navigators in her first year during COVID and eventually got integrated into the International Fellowship in her second year, helping get the worship team and ministry started. Her highlights with the Navigators are 1) her time at the Global Student Program where she lived with international Navigators from around the world for a summer and experienced the healing and transformative power of God's love for us which in turn also helps us know Him deeper; and 2) her year in the Netherlands as she got to witness and experience Navigators' (and others') ministries in various countries like Spain, England, the Netherlands, and Greece, seeing how the Gospel was preached everywhere, yet also witnessing the different angles of the Gospel different cultures highlight, and the different challenges and ways of doing ministry according to each culture. Upon entering her fourth year of university, Sanmi served on the exec team at her local university and is now excited for her upcoming final year to serve God as an intern and see all that He has planned and will do.
