Stephen Kimbell
Biography
Hi y'all, I'm Stephen! I love adventuring in nature, learning, exploring, writing, music, people, friendships, and most of all, Jesus! As a graduate of Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University, I guess you could say that I'm a rocket scientist! But I felt called to a new direction to love, care for, and serve people in a more direct and humble way and now I am in my third year of Nursing at the University of Ottawa. I have been honoured and humbled to have the opportunity to serve among the marginalized for the past few years serving with youth and adults experiencing homelessness, refugees and people suffering from trauma and substance abuse. In these contexts, I have been richly blessed through fiving and receiving friendships from those in my community! I am praying and discerning where God is leading me next post-graduation. Currently, I envision pursuing work in emergency nursing and continuing to serve in the inner city. As well, I hope to someday serve overseas with medical relief in conflict zones and crisis areas! I also feel called to one day work in oncology, but I am learning to take life one step at a time. I am currently an associate staff with the Navigators of Canada in Ottawa serving among nursing students and varsity athletes at the University of Ottawa and among people who find themselves on the margins bringing the kingdom of God to them in their contexts. I've lately really learned what it means to be faithfully present and really leaned into that as I continue to live out my calling to bring the gospel of Jesus and His kingdom to all people! I have been so blessed to love and be loved by those I've found myself among and learning to live intentionally in community. In these contexts, I have been seeking to invite those in my community into discipleship and fellowship with Jesus and one another! Ultimately, I am a young man with the heart of a little boy learning to lean on and seek Jesus in all things - journeying with Him at my side!
