Growing Disciples

Equipping disciplemakers in the local church context is a powerful vision. This vision takes more than prescribing a program or a curriculum. It requires more than individual pastors or church leaders can carrying on their own. How can we turn this vision into reality?

We need to equip everyday disciplemakers to see relational disciplemaking as a natural part of their lifestyle wherever they live, work, or play. The Ways of the Alongsider (NavPress) by Bill Mowry is an excellent tool to equip you to do just that. It teaches biblical principles and practices that mark the life of a disciplemaker.  The book calls people to a lifestyle marked by certain ways of discipling others. You will be invited to explore the Scriptures, learn through reflective questions, and gain experience through practical exercises. From beginning to end, there’s an emphasis on mission. We believe this is high value training / coaching that will impact your ministry.

The Ways of the Alongsider COHORT specifics:
  • Two monthly online sessions (1.25 hour each)
  • Participants meet in breakout groups (cohorts) of 2-4 individuals (pastors and/or ministry leaders)
  • Preparation for each session includes reading and completing assignments in workbook (approx. 1 hour)
  • Participants are expected to share their main insights action steps
  • Sessions runs from September to spring with a break in December (proposed start date is September 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm ET)
  • Each breakout group (cohort) will be led by a Navigator Church Ministries team member
  • Cost for this training is $100 plus the cost of the book
  • Deadline: Confirm your intent to join the September cohort by Friday September 13

Assumption of Risk

Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims
