Tidal Wave

We’ve got a new name—Tidal Wave—but it’s still the same weekend to launch the year together.
This year, we’re diving into the theme Living Letters: what if your life was a letter showing the message of Jesus? Through Paul’s letters, we’ll look at 3 key questions: Who are you? What's your life all about? Who are we as the community of Christ?
Tidal Wave is more than just a retreat—it’s a chance to taste and see what life with the UBC Navigators is like all year long. Whether you're brand new or have been part of Navs for a while, this weekend offers a glimpse into the people, rhythms, and purpose that shape our community.
First-years at UBC! You get a special discounted rate of $155—just email us at mattyg@navigators.ca for the code.
There’ll be space to connect with others, hear from God, and get excited about the year ahead. Plus, we'll have a whole lot of fun!
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to start the year, this is it. Come be part of Tidal Wave—we’d love to have you there!
(If cost is a barrier, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we don’t want finances to stop anyone from coming.)

Kathleen Selje
Creative and energetic ministry leader, Kathleen has been teaching, loving, and discipling humans of all ages in a variety of contexts for the last few decades. Trained as an elementary educator and campus minister, she is eager to see communities passionate about Jesus. She currently serves on the Navigators National Campus Leadership Team and co-directs the ministry at UBC. In her free time, you may find Kathleen “twalking” (talking with a friend on the phone while walking), baking or watching a K-drama.

Matthew Godinez
Matty began his journey with the Navigators in 2013 when he first got connected to the campus ministry at the University of British Columbia. What started as a simple one-on-one mentorship eventually led to him joining the UBC Navs staff team in 2020. He’s passionate about helping students discover their identity in Christ and deeply values life-on-life discipleship. His heart is to see students equipped in their spiritual formation—not just for university, but for the rest of life. When he’s not on campus, you can find Matty playing volleyball, taking photos, or watching the latest trending TV show with his wife.
