Students from Carleton, University of Alberta and Calgary have a heart to put their faith into action. Over the next few months they will be preparing to go outside of their culture and comforts. They will be studying Spanish, learning about the marginalized and reading about Jesus ministry, working hard to be able to leave their studies behind and make their way to the remote village during February reading week.
Each student is responsible to raise at least $4000 towards the group total. Thank you for helping them by supporting their growth through giving and prayer as together we expand the Gospel into the Nations.

Why I'm Going?
Hello!
I’m Cameron, I am an engineering alumni from the University of Calgary, and here’s why I look forward to participating in the Onzole River Project.
I first heard about the Onzole River Project thanks to my friend Zach who has been a part of this mission with the Navigators for several years! Since then I have often heard the incredible stories of resilience and faith that have come from this unique culture in northern Ecuador; How the community faces logistical challenges and setbacks with renewed hope, and advocacy for what is needed for the future. I feel that it would be a tremendous privilege to build relationships with these people who have such a strong community spirit, and to be helpful and encouraging where I can. I believe that God is working through the Onzole River Project by empowering young people to build the futures they deserve, and providing resources as guided by local community leaders for the lasting benefit of the region.
I am passionate about living life with others, especially where there is so much to learn about life lived in a very different and challenging context. I am particularly excited to learn what binds this community together, how their culture, shared values, and history makes for a deeply interconnected community. I also love to learn about how people's lives are shaped by their environment. The jungles in the Onzole region lie between the Andes mountains and the ocean, it is a very beautiful but very challenging environment with thick vegetation and steep foothills. This environment shapes the lives of the Onzole river communities in very distinct ways, and I look forward to experiencing how they have overcome these challenges.
As a youth group leader, I have had the privilege of encouraging young people in their faith and in their pursuits of what they want for their future. I believe there is alot of meaning in working with kids and young adults to help them to trust in what God has for them. I really look forward to building understanding and relationships with the youth in the Onzole river communities, and hopefully to enjoy life together and have some fun.
Please pray for a trip of meaningful conversations, impactful outreach, and for the blessing of the communities in the Onzole region! If you share my belief that the work on the Onzole River Project is deeply significant, please consider donating!
Thank you for your interest in this project and for all of your support!
Best,
Cameron Edwards
