Philippe and Geniève Anderson
St. Mary's University Athletics Chaplain
About 2000 years ago Jesus was born in Bethlehem, lived and died then came back from the dead by his own strength and that changed everything!
About 30 years ago, Philippe Anderson was born in Quebec City to a Navigator couple, Ken and Judie Anderson. During his studies at the Université de Moncton in New Brunswick, he started up a Nav student group with the help of Ragnar Oborn who was heading up the Navigator work in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
After graduating and getting married to Geniève Cormier (now Anderson), they both had plans to teach English in Asia, though God, and the Navs in the Maritimes, had different plans. They were recruited to participate in “campus-quest” as interns at the University of New Brunswick under the supervision of Ragnar Oborn, Samuel Jess and another gentleman now serving overseas.
After his year-long internship, Phil’s love for the campus truly solidified as he saw how strategic it was to have a global influence for Jesus Christ while staying in one place. The Nav team in Fredericton passed over the UNB/STU leadership to Phil, which freed them all to pursue other ministries where they felt God was leading them.
Phil & Gen ministered in Fredericton for another 4 years and in May 2011, they transferred to Halifax NS to serve with a Navigators team there. Phil now serves as the chaplain to the Saint Mary's men's basketball team and also leads an international student ministry call "Navigator International Community". Phil is also a co-pastor of a small local church in Halifax called Real Life Community Church.
"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."
