Discipleship for Development is a whole-life discipleship response to the socioeconomic reality of rural Africa. Oral facilitation and learning are at the heart of this process. Relationships of love are built with community members, while community leaders are equipped to discover and apply their God-given resources. As the communities use their resources in new ways to solve the spiritual, physical, economic, social, and emotional problems that most plague them, a transformational journey begins towards reaching their God-intended potential.

Chinese-Canadian Friendships exists to serve the PRC Chinese Community with Christian love in areas of practical need, helping newcomers adjust to their new culture and to feel welcome; and helping our Chinese friends explore the Christian message in an accepting, non-threatening and enjoyable atmosphere. We welcome all new students, scholars, researchers, and visitors to the academic community along with their families from Mainland China and other Mandarin Chinese speakers, and wish you a successful adjustment to life in Waterloo, Ontario. We also wish to continue our involvement with other more established Chinese from the University of Waterloo community.

In 1988 Dominic and Ruth Ssenyonga moved to the remote village of Tabiro to start a primary school. When the AIDS epidemic hit, they opened their home to many AIDS orphans. Through perseverance and hard work, this remote community banded together with Dominic and Ruth and appealed for help. Construction of proper school buildings began in 2003. Now four hundred and fifty primary school children (of whom one hundred are orphans) are being taught. In 2008 a group of ten Canadians traveled to Tabiro school and helped build the first of two orphanages - so that the children who were living in the school could have a home. The team brought hope to a place that has been devastated - first by war (during the Idi Amin era) and now by sickness and poverty. Today Uganda Venture seeks to fund and serve vital development work in Tabiro and the surrounding area. To volunteer and go to Uganda, to donate or to read more, please use the following link.
